Suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane parroted State Security Agency (SSA) orders when she unlawfully instructed Parliament to amend the South African Reserve Bank's (SARB) mandate, a former investigator in her office has testified.

Tebogo Kekana, who was subpoenaed to give evidence at Parliament's section 194 inquiry into Mkhwebane's fitness to hold office, has provided evidence to back up his extraordinary claims, which paints Mkhwebane as a puppet of the SSA.

His evidence also comes days after Mkhwebane's advocate, Dali Mpofu SC, admitted that she had been in unlawful possession of a classified report on the so-called "SARS Rogue Unit", which she used to make later invalidated findings against Pravin Gordhan – while not admitting that she actually had the document.

No thanks! I prefer having periods of no load shedding and we cannot normalise this crisis
