Police are investigating a case of murder after a member of AfriForum's neighbourhood watch in Pretoria shot and killed a suspected copper thief earlier in October.

According to police, it's alleged that during the early hours of Tuesday, 20 October, two members of the Moot community were patrolling the area when they received a complaint of suspects cutting copper cables at Deerness train station.

Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said the two men arrived at the train station at around 02:50 where they noticed five suspects running away.
