In the Northern Cape, two regional structures of the ANC have become the first to pilot conferences held using the party's new membership system, something that got a mention in President Cyril Ramaphosa's political report to the national executive committee (NEC) meeting this weekend.
But while the leaders here have praised the system, some said it still had a number of problems and was open to massive manipulation.
"All other provinces are reluctant and said this is problematic. What we did at this province was to take the bull by its horns," provincial chairperson and premier Zamani Saul told a conference by the province's Frances Baard region on Saturday.
