A sporting event between two well-known Cape Town boys’ schools turned sour over the weekend, leaving parents outraged by what has been deemed "elitist" behaviour.

During a rugby match at Bishops Diocesan College on Saturday, Bishops pupils allegedly took to throwing coins at their opponents' supporters after losing the game.

The match was part of the Wynberg Boys' High School Derby series.
