The police's VIP protection unit has been involved in 51 motor vehicle crashes, costing the state more than R650 000, since April 2018.
The residents of Johannesburg, Pretoria, and the Eastern Cape should watch out for the blue light brigades, as most of the accidents happened there.
The VIP unit protects the president, deputy president and ministers, including driving their official vehicles, but none of the "VIPs" were involved in the accidents, according to Police Minister Bheki Cele.
