While it is common to hear that a community has taken the law into its own hands after being brutalised by criminals, residents from a neighbourhood in Soweto attempted to do the unthinkable after being in the dark for more than five weeks.

They tried to fix a substation themselves.

Power in Ward 22 in Zone 7, Pimville, was not restored after loadshedding had hit the area on 14 July.
