Promising Wentworth youngster gunned down, community leader vows to fight gang violence

The community of Wentworth is reeling after the murder of a young man who was shot during a game of street soccer.

Mazwi Magenu sustained bullet wounds to the head and chest and was declared dead on the scene after suspected gang members drove to the bottom of Woodville Road, got out of their vehicle, and opened fire on the teenagers and young men playing street soccer.

At least six people were shot during the incident, with one sustaining severe injuries that could result in an amputated arm.
