Public works department in firing line after exploding substation causes outage at Pretoria court

The responsibility for the Pretoria Magistrate's Court being crippled by a power outage has been placed with the Department of Public Works, which allegedly failed to stop a substation from flooding in one of its buildings, despite being warned.

The court and some of the surrounding buildings in the Tshwane city centre have been without power since Monday.

This led to the court's capacity being curtailed as the generator could not power the entire building.
