President Cyril Ramaphosa says the government does not know whether there will be further waves of Covid-19 infections, nor whether there will be further variants, including those from other countries.
He also does not know for sure at what pace SA would be able to vaccinate the population.
The president was giving an honest assessment of the year ahead, speaking candidly about the insurmountable challenges of the coronavirus, which he said was likely to be around for the whole of 2021 and beyond.
