SA a source, transit and destination country for human trafficking - report

The number of human trafficking prosecutions that make it to South African courts is a poor reflection of the scope of the crime in the country.

Almost 11 000 cases of human trafficking were reported to the police over seven years – yet only a small percentage of these cases appear to have entered the legal system.

This is according to a study by the United States Agency for International Development and local research partners, Khulisa Management Services and Wits University.
