When Bishop Lavis resident Samantha Fortuin woke up on Tuesday and stepped out of bed, she got a fright because she could feel water surrounding her feet.
"As the rain started progressing in the afternoon, the water started flowing more into my home from the front door right to the back of my house. My bedroom, bathroom and yard are completely flooded with water," she said.
"All my winter items that I took out for the cold days are soaking wet. My furniture is destroyed. [My] carpets and cupboards are no longer in the good condition they once were."
