The recent unrest has shown a gap in quality intelligence products to pre-empt criminal activity, says the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, Tina Joemat-Pettersson.

This after Police Minister Bheki Cele and police top brass failed to allay concerns about the stability of the police during a committee meeting on Thursday.

Cele, national police commissioner Khehla Sitole and other high-ranking officers briefed the committee on the "stability" and restructuring of the police.
