International Relations and Cooperation Minister Naledi Pandor became a "punching bag" for MPs who threw bare-knuckle punches at her over the suspension of her director-general, Kgabo Mahoai.

At the start of the Parliament's International Relations Committee meeting on Thursday, it was clear Pandor was not going to have it easy explaining the reasons behind her decision to place Mahoai on precautionary suspension.

It was also disputed his suspension came in the wake of the department spending R118 million for a piece of land in New York which did not exist.
