City of Johannesburg Mayor Geoff Makhubo has denied influencing tenders, despite accounting records implying two companies were making payments to secure his influence.

Makhubo appeared at the Zondo Commission on Monday to testify on cash flow-related evidence during his tenure as the treasurer of the Greater Johannesburg region of the ANC. Makhubo was also MMC for finance at the time.

Evidence leader advocate Matthew Chaskalson SC read out several transactions from IT service management company EOH, which appeared to link donations to the ANC to a City tender.
