Police Minister Bheki Cele says so far there has been no indication whether under-fire national police commissioner Khehla Sithole will be suspended.

President Cyril Ramaphosa had signalled an intention to suspend Sitole while a board of inquiry probed his fitness to hold office.

In response to a written parliamentary question from EFF MP Zandile Majozi, Cele said: "It's a presidential prerogative to suspend the national commissioner, [and] up to this far we have not been advised by the presidency along those lines."
