A Mitchells Plain family is in mourning after a young mother of three was shot dead by gunmen at a 21st birthday party in the suburb on Saturday night.

Ann Hodson-Gabriels, 31, was shot while fleeing gunmen who randomly opened fire on guests at the birthday celebration.

Her heartbroken husband, Michael Gabriels, could not muster the strength to put his loss into words, saying only he was unable to speak to News24, as he was still in "utter shock and disbelief".
