It may be six months later than initially planned, but the DA federal congress starting on Saturday will draw to a close a tumultuous chapter in the party's history.

The DA is set to elect a new leader in John Steenhuisen or Mbali Ntuli after the dramatic exit of Mmusi Maimane as part of the fall-out of a poor showing at the 2019 polls.

This federal congress follows a policy congress last month, in which the party adopted non-racialism as a principle and moved away from race-based redress.
