The question of the composition of the cabinet returned to the Western Cape government on Friday when Premier Alan Winde was questioned over why he only picked one black African to be in his inner circle as an MEC.

On Friday Winde quickly put paid to speculation by quickly announcing two new cabinet appointments, after the resignation of Education MEC Debbie Schäfer presented another vacancy. Albert Fritz was fired as Community Safety MEC, and Anroux Marais from Sport and Culture had been standing in.
