Without 24-hour bodyguard protection, ANC Amathole District councillor Nanziwe Rulashe could be at risk of an assassination attempt - and the threat could well come from within her own party.

That is according to a confidential threat and risk assessment report compiled by the Eastern Cape police's Crime Intelligence unit. News24 has seen the report.

Rulashe, 40, is currently in hiding after gunmen opened fire at her Baysville home in East London on 30 January.
