Two men are expected in court with regard to the kidnapping of a Cape Town businessman, who was accosted while walking to his car and subsequently tortured.
The Chinese national, who owns a business in Strand, was approached by armed men and forced into their vehicle after 19:00 on Monday, said Western Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa.
"The suspects are alleged to have demanded a substantial amount of cash as ransom in exchange for the release of the victim," she said.

"He had sustained serious burn and assault wounds after he was tortured by his kidnappers."
The men, aged 31 and 35, were arrested after being linked to the crime. They face charges of assault, kidnapping and extortion.
They are expected to appear in the Strand Magistrate's Court on Monday.
