Durban - Two men will be formally charged for the theft of R17m at the State Security Agency two weeks ago, the Hawks confirmed on Friday.
Foreign currency, including dollars and euros, was stolen between Christmas and Boxing Day from a safe at the Pretoria headquarters.
A suspect was captured on CCTV footage.
Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi confirmed that two men were arrested on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
He said that they would still be formally charged with the theft, but their case was only expected to be in court on Monday.
He confirmed that the two were not members of the SSA and that more arrests were anticipated.
"We are making inroads and we expect more arrests this weekend," he said.
Mulaudzi would not be drawn on whether any foreign currency had been recovered.
