Five SA Post Office branches in the Eastern Cape had to shut down unexpectedly after workers were chased out by the owners of the buildings the branches operate out of, due to unpaid rent.

This comes as the SA Post Office has fallen behind in monthly rental payments to the owners of several buildings in which many of its 156 branches in the province lease from.

Four of the five closed branches, namely Centralhill, The Bridge, Greenacres and Motherwell, are all in Gqeberha.
