A confused Deputy Minister of Defence Thabang Makwetla could not fathom how the case against 53 military veterans, accused of holding him and two other ministers hostage, was withdrawn on Tuesday.
The shocked Makwetla told News24 he had submitted an affidavit to state exactly what had transpired when 26 people, including himself, ministers Thandi Modise and Mondli Gungubele, and two bodyguards were held hostage last October for close to three hours.
Makwetla said that, as far as he was aware, the two other ministers had also submitted, as part of the evidence in the case, their own affidavits detailing their ordeal.
