Durban – Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a popular Umbilo pub in Durban.

Video footage of the robbery at Bartle Sports Bar emerged on social media on Monday. In the footage, the four suspects are seen entering the premises one at a time.

They then assault and threaten a female staff member with what appears to be a pistol, before stealing various items, including cash.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane on Tuesday said the incident had taken place last week.

"The complainant said she was performing her duties when she was confronted by unknown men. The suspects threatened her with a firearm, before removing cash, cigarettes and cellphone, thereafter fled the scene on foot."

Zwane said a case of business robbery had been opened at the Umbilo police station.
