Around 100 residents from Bishop Lavis, Cape Town took to the streets on Wednesday morning to protest against gang violence in the Western Cape.

According to Cape Town law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason, residents started protesting on the side of Valhalla Drive and Myrtle road, saying that there is no effective anti-gang strategy to put an end to gang violence.

Dyason added that police were monitoring the protest.

Road closures are also currently in place. Valhalla drive is closed between Owen and Jakkalsvlei, as well as Myrtle and Tafelberg road at Bishop Lavis police station.
