More than 200 Cape Town undertakers downed tools on Wednesday and marched to the Cape Town CBD home affairs office to raise their demands over poor working conditions and salaries.

The protest was part of a larger three-day national shutdown of services by the funeral industry, led by the Unification Task Team (UTT) – a grouping of 17 funeral associations and forums – which ended on Wednesday.
