The government is deploying 10 000 SANDF troops to help police and the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) ensure safety at voting stations and result centres on Monday, 1 November.

Their deployment will continue until 3 November.

The government has identified KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, the Eastern Cape and Western Cape as possible hotspots for violence.
