A building in the Durban CBD is on fire, resulting in multiple casualties, according to paramedics on the scene.
The fire was reported at China Mall in West Street shortly after 10:00, said EMER-G-MED spokesperson Kyle van Reenen.
KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert Mckenzie confirmed there was a fire, and that two fire trucks were at the scene. He added that 11 people had been injured. Two of those had been transported to hospital.

Speaking from the scene, Van Reenen said paramedics had witnessed people trapped in the building breaking windows and trying to climb out, in order to escape the flames.
"Two people have been rescued from the upper floors and are being attended to by paramedics. They are in a moderate condition. It is believed that all occupants have been rescued however final sweeps are being conducted floor by floor," said Van Reenen
