Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe contends that "white colonisers" continue to own the majority of South Africa's land and suggested that the only way to get it back from "thieves" was through nationalisation.

"I'm not advocating that farmers must be killed, no. I'm not advocating violence, I'm a farmer myself.

"But let us engage them and remind them, remind them how they acquired this land and remind them that without the land being restored and shared and distributed properly, there is no dignity. Especially for the African people. There is no dignity," Hlophe told a Black Lawyers Association (BLA) event last weekend in Durban.
