President Cyril Ramaphosa and Health Minister Zweli Mkhize have sought to allay concerns that inefficiency and delays by government officials may have put the country on the back foot in procuring Covid-19 vaccines.
The president went as far as pointing to a deal with Johnson & Johnson (J&J) that would see vaccines produced in South Africa being part of the government's vaccination plans.
Earlier this week, Ramaphosa announced the government had secured 20 million doses of the vaccines for this year, so far, with more talks under way.
