Around three-quarters of detectives at 20 Western Cape police precincts with the highest reports of domestic violence have not had training in the Domestic Violence Act.

According to the Western Cape Government's Policing Needs and Priorities report, 74% of detectives at the top 20 stations had not undergone a five-day Domestic Violence Act training course.

The statistics are based on a census carried out between July and December 2017, which monitored the level of compliance with the Domestic Violence Act at the province's 150 police stations
