While SAPS forensic laboratories falter, VIP Protection Services thrive

While the police's forensic laboratories – with a budget of R1.42 billion – are failing dismally at meeting their targets, the VIP Protection Services, flush with its budget of over R3 billion, met most of its targets and overspent on its budget in the process.

This was revealed when the SAPS reported to the Portfolio Committee on Police on the fourth quarter of the 2019-2020 financial year and the first quarter of 2020-2021.
