According to a statement from ER24, the woman suffered serious injuries in the fall while out hiking with a friend in the mountains of the reserve on Sunday morning. The woman is understood to be in her mid to late 20s.

"It is believed that she slipped on a rock and fell at around 09:00, suffering fractures to the arm and lower leg. ER24's Joburg South crews managed to reach the patient by 11:45 after an hour and a half hike," the statement read.
