The court appearance of tops cops like former KwaZulu-Natal provincial commissioner Mmamonnye Ngobeni is a sign that the tide could be turning against corruption-accused cops in South Africa, a security expert says.

Senior researcher in the Crime and Justice Programme at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) Johan Burger said that Ngobeni's arrest and court appearance on Monday was one of many top-ranking police officials to face corruption charges.
