The DA has teamed up with political parties and lobby groups to intensify its push for the devolution of police powers in the Western Cape.

The chairperson of the DA's Federal Council, Helen Zille, announced the formation of the Western Cape Devolution Working Group (WCDWG), following failed talks with the national government.

In response, Police Minister Bheki Cele, who was speaking to News24 on the sidelines of an imbizo in Khayelitsha, referenced President Cyril Ramaphosa's response to DA leader John Steenhuisen on the matter.
