Inspector General of Intelligence Setlhomamaru Dintwe told the Zondo commission former president Jacob Zuma relied on an alleged lack of security clearance of then-National Prosecuting Authority boss Mxolisi Nxasana as a basis for instituting an inquiry into his fitness to hold office and subsequently notifying him of his intention to suspend him.

Dintwe was testifying before the commission on Wednesday evening.

He told Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, who chairs the commission, Nxasana was awarded top secret security clearance when he assumed office. Dintwe said Nxasana went through all the security clearance processes and was issued with a top secret certificate on 6 March 2014.
