Former minister and ANC NEC member Ngoako Ramathlodi said he believed former president Jacob Zuma thought Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo would be a "puppet" and that was why he appointed him to head the state capture commission.

"Now, when things are not going in the direction he wants, he says Zondo is bias. He appointed Zondo. He should have said so in the beginning."

Ramathlodi was commenting after Zondo dismissed claims of bias by Zuma against him because of a relationship he had in the 1990s with Zuma's estranged wife's sister.
