The ANC must abandon its cadre deployment policy urgently, says former finance minister Trevor Manuel, in the wake of the Zondo Commission's damning finding that the policy is unconstitutional and unlawful.
Writing a column for News24, Manuel said the governing ANC was faced with a choice.
"[We] can choose, once again, to kick the can down the road; or we can ignore what transpired, just referencing it as a bad experience; we could wait for the lengthy prosecutions process before we decide whether to grant perpetrators of corruption amnesty, or all of the above, in combination."
