SCARCITY of sanitary pads among the youth in rural communities in the outskirts of Greytown, has prompted a local NPO to embark on a campaign to distribute sanitary pads to the young girls in Ntembisweni and surrounding areas.

Philile Nzama, the founder of the Nurture The Future Foundation (NTF) – a community organisation that aims to empower the livelihood of rural communities in Greytown said the schools’ programme was initiated by local schools to lend a helping hand to the previously disadvantaged young women.

“We understand that young girls receive sanitary towels in KZN schools, however, it was halted due to the lockdown regulations, and this inspired us to launch our ‘schools programme’.
