Thoko Didiza: Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development
Thoko Didiza has a solid grip on her department, with agricultural unions and organisations welcoming her energy and plans for the sector.
She has had to deal with a drought, but over 15 000 farmers have received assistance from the government.
In April, Didiza proved her mettle when the department announced a R1.2 billion Agriculture Disaster Fund to help farmers cope with the impact of Covid-19.
Didiza has been at the forefront of the government's bold land plan, which is expected to release 896 farms for agriculture. Altogether, 700 000 hectares of under-utilised land will be distributed for agricultural purposes.
The slow pace of the District Six development has irked beneficiaries of the project.
