Direct flights between Joburg and Grahamstown on the cards

Cape Town – A local charter company may soon launch direct flights between Johannesburg and Grahamstown.

Grocott’s Mail reports that Joburg-based company CemAir announced that they were in the final stages of evaluating a possible service between OR Tambo International Airport and Grahamstown.

Apparently the terminal and runway at Grahamstown airfield is being upgraded in anticipation of the launch, which is expected to take place sometime in March 2015.

According to CemAir CEO Miles van der Molen they are looking at doing three flights per week on this route initially.

CemAir launched flights between Joburg and Plettenberg Bay in March this year, adding a Cape Town leg to the route shortly after. They also provide a service to Margate.
