#UberIceCream: A taste of UberEATS in SA?

accreditation

Cape Town - No excuse necessary to indulge in the chilly goodness of ice cream especially if it comes delivered by our trusted Uber drivers. Uber dedicates a day to the wonder of ice cream once a year, and Magnum is excited to join in the phenomenon.

Uber will play ice cream truck in 400 cities across the globe, sharing the joy of ice cream, be it summer or winter... until the Magnums run out that is.

Saffas are hoping this is a sign of UberEATS launching in SA soon. Imagine staying in for a night of Chinese food or ordering your favourite pizza take-away via Uber? You had us at EATS!

Job ads in Cape Town and Johannesburg for UberEATS employees have us uber excited! UberEATS is a standalone app available in some cities in the US, Canada, Australia and Europe and we are hoping that Cape Town and Joburg will soon form part of the UberEATS family.

Meals are prepared at your favourite restaurants and collected continuously by Uber couriers, who then head to busy areas. Hungry app users simply request a meal and await its speedy delivery.

Uber app users will get a taste of this on Friday, 15 July, as they request Magnum ice creams. It will be fastest fingers first as Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth request frozen treats via the Uber app and share a Magnum moment with ice cream lovers worldwide.

So how does #UberIceCream work?

Open the Uber app on Friday, 15 July, between 11:00 and 15:00 and slide across to the Ice Cream view.

Set your pick-up location and await the delivery of your four individual Magnum Ice Creams for R100.

As most of us can't resist the temptation, demand will be very high. If your request is unsuccessful at first, simply retry. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones to receive your delivery in a Mini Cooper or an ice cream truck!

Don't forget to share your experience using #UberIceCream.
