Cape Town - Think Black Hawk Down, think blood and war, murder and famine... Yes, you've guessed it, we're talking about Somalia, right?
Wrong.
Que Ugaaso Abukar Boocow (pictured below), a 27-year-old Somalian woman who snaps the most incredible pics from her home town of Mogadishu, posts them to Instagram, and changes the way in which the world sees Somalia.
It's no wonder then that Boocow, @ugaasadda, has over 72 million Instagram followers (and growing), seeing her take on this beautiful country right on the horn of Africa.
Boocow was born in Mogadishu, but fled to Canada with her grandmother when she was two years old to escape civil war in the country, reports Daily Mail. She returned o Mogadishu in 2014 to live with her mother, and now works as a civil servant in the Somalian capital.
Here are some of her photos of everyday life on the shores of this warm, equatorial country... be sure to read the captions on her photographs:
(and take note how clean the streets are...)
