This event aims to raise awareness around individuals and organisations who are on the frontlines and behind the scenes working tirelessly to ensure the conservation and protection of Africa's wildlife, and that future generations will still be able to see them in the wild.

The awards have been taking place every year since 2011 in collaboration with the Game Ranger's Association of Africa (GRAA), and is endorsed by the Department of Environmental Affairs.

While it focused on rhino conservation in previous years, in 2020 they will expand their focus to include work done to protect other endangered species as well.

"The Rhino Conservation Awards are a uniquely African award programme where African conservationists recognise their peers and incredible work they do for our endangered species," says Andrew Campbell, CEO of GRAA.

"This is a great example of an initiative for rangers, by rangers. They showcase real heroes and guardians of our natural heritage and have become an integral part of the conservation calendar."

Any members of public, non-profits, individuals within conservation organisations and governmental entities across Africa can be nominated.
