Weird wildlife: Heron catches a ride on a hippo

accreditation

Cape Town - Feeling little low today? We've got the perfect cure in the form of a truly wacky wildlife video.

Visitors to the Kruger National Park must have felt like their eyes were playing tricks on them when they recently spotted a heron gliding across the surface of a watering hole without showing any hint of motorising itself.

After a few minutes, however, the mystery is solved when a hippo raises his head out of the water, revealing that the heron had conveniently been hitching a ride on its back!
