It is believed the footage was shot some months ago. The nanny has been charged at the Magistrates Court in Kampala on the 20th of November under Section 3 of Uganda’s Anti-torture Act . She has been remanded to Luzira Prison and will appear in court again on the 8th of December. Authorities are hoping to amend the charges to attempted murder.

After the incident the toddler was taken to hospital by her parents, Erick and Angela, and has recovered from the incident.

NBS Television reported: "Angela says the baby got medication and recovered and by the grace of God, she is well. Meanwhile, police have already amended the charge sheet of Jolly Tumuhirwe, the maid who brutally tortured the baby, to attempted murder upon re-perusal by Resident State Attorney and pending lines of inquiry in later stages."
