At least one car has been washed away in Pretoria during a flash flood on Thursday, 10 March 2016. The motorist's family arrive on the scene in this video. Johan Pieterse from Tshwane's Fire Brigade Services told News24 Live that the operation was still underway after midday.
"The water level is a bit high," he said and could not confirm if a motorist was in the vehicle or not. According to Pieterse, the car was swept away on a road in the north west region of Pretoria.
The car was swept away during heavy rainfall on Thursday morning. Emergency workers had been working on retrieving the car when it was swept further away from them.
