Winnie Madikizela-Mandela turns 80 on Tuesday, 26 September 2016. She is one of nine children born to parents, both teachers, in Bizana in the Eastern Cape.

Her birthday celebrations are already well underway. Deputy President Cryil Ramaphosa called her a diamond at a birthday dinner on Wednesday.

Last night, artists Caiphus Semenya and Letta Mbulu headlined a concert in her honour at Cape Town's Artscape Theatre.
