Following Nhlanhla Nene's surprise removal as Finance Minister, Investec's chief economist Brian Kantor discusses the possible reasons behind the axing and the effects this has had, and will have on the economy in the future.
Kantor says that Nene's removal is most probably for the President's personal reasons, as Nene was seen by most as an effective finance minister. He expresses his shock at the removal, saying that "we've all woken up a lot poorer this morning".
Kantor believes that this move by the president will have numerous negative effects on the economy.
