LifeLine Western Cape has launched a new program which will allow South Africans to access free counselling via WhatsApp. Watch.

LifeLine Western Cape has provided telephonic and face-to-face counselling to people since 1968, the organisation hopes that their newest offering will make counselling more accessible and affordable to South Africans.

Vice Chair of LifeLine Western Cape, Glynis Depper, says, "by introducing WhatsApp call as an option to our counselling service, we are hoping to reach a wider community that cannot necessarily afford the cost of a landline call, but needs someone to talk to." Find out more in the video above.

The WhatsApp calling service can only accept one phone call at a time. The organisation says depending on the success of this new service, they will look at increasing their capacity in the future, by introducing more mobile phone numbers.
